Commissioned by Koyodai Wind Band Osaka Pref.
This work was commissioned by the Koyodai Wind Band, from Osaka high school, Japan, for performance by the band with Masateru Yamaki, trombonist in The Orchestra Osaka Symphoniker. The first performance was conducted by Japan°«s leading band conductor Manabu Inoue. This piece is composed of three uninterrupted movements, in a fast-slow-fast structure. The first movement starts with an introduction followed by cadenza and flows with rapid irregular meter. The second movement makes the most of Masateru Yamaki°«s warm and soft sound with a chorale-like touch. The third movement is written in a march-like style. The leading role is not only the trombone but also the musical interaction with the band, which develops throughout the work.
