||Fanfare - Young Pheasants in the Sky
Commissioned by the Nara Prefectural Kashihara Senior High School to celebrate their 30th anniversary
This is a fanfare commissioned by the Nara Prefectural Kashihara Senior High School to celebrate their 30th anniversary. This piece was first performed by the school°«s Wind Ensemble, conducted by Kazushi Hatsuda, in their fourth concert in June 2004.
The high school°«s mascot is a young pheasant. This piece was written with the composer°«s wish that the students would fly into the bright future like pheasants. The piece is divided into two parts. The fanfare, which is suitable for the opening of ceremonies, is mainly featured in the first part. This fanfare begins with the three notes of Bb, C, and F (associated with the number 3 from the 30th anniversary). The chorale-like second part describes the high school buildings which are located in a lush environment surrounded by nature. Your band can perform both parts together or you could perform each one separately. Although it is rather a short piece lasting about two minutes, it has a great deal of story that is portrayed in a striking and buoyant way
